The Lemosho Route is the longest and most unspoiled and scenic route offering a complete Kilimanjaro experience. You will be able to see all the major highlights of Kilimanjaro – from the forests and moorlands to the renowned glaciers. The route is one of the few where groups may be accompanied on the first day by an armed ranger, as the forests around the Lemosho Glades are rich in buffalo, elephant and other big game animals.

Itinerary

DAY DESCRIPTION
Day 1 Begin Ascent – Big Tree Camp
Begin the drive from the hotel to the entrance gate, which is approximately 4 hours from Arusha. The Lemosho Gate is situated on the western side of Kilimanjaro mountain. They will check in at Londorossi Park Gate then will drive again to the Lemosho starting point at the Big Tree Camp (2750m).
Day 2 Shira One Camp
From Big Tree Camp you will enjoy a beautiful view of a valley of tropical trees and hills of Kilimanjaro. On day 2 they will arrive at Shira One where there is an excellent view of the Shira Plateau, which is the fallen Shira peak.
Day 3 Shira Two Camp
You will continue to Shira Two Camp (3840m). Here they will enjoy trekking through the enormous heather and moorland area and catch a beautiful view of Kibo peak and breathtaking glaciers from the western side.
Day 4 Barranco Camp
The acclimatization hike goes to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower reaching 4600 meters at the highest point. The landscape on Day 4 is rocky and semi desert. Descent to Barranco Valley at 3950 meters allows for great views of the Western Breach and Breach Wall.
Day 5 Karanga Camp
You will climb up Barranco Wall to 4100 m following ridges to and sleep at Karanga Valley. Here there will be a clear view of the Crested Glacier which is at the top of Kilimanjaro.
Day 6 Barafu Camp
Ascend to Barafu Camp at 4600 m and rest here before the final ascent to the peak. The features present are all stones and rocks in the alpine desert.
Day 7 Ascent to Summit
Begin the final ascent at midnight to the summit to view the sunrise on Kilimanjaro’s peak. Begin descent to the lower camp at Mweka (3100 m). Enjoy a beautiful panorama of surrounding Kilimanjaro during the descent. At Mweka Camp there are unique exotic flowers.
Option to stay one extra night at Crater Camp or Glacier Camp which is at the peak of Kilimanjaro, to enjoy the spectacular views from the rooftop of Africa and to see the ash cone of Kilimanjaro. The camp is right next to Haim Glacier.
Note: Clients who select this option to stay at the top of Kilimanjaro need to be in optimal health condition to withstand the high-altitude. A Misele representative will confirm this option with you before this booking is made.
Day 8 Mweka Gate check out – to hotel
Descend to Mweka Gate for checking out and receiving certification. Transportation back to the hotel for rest and relaxation.
